Finger Lakes State Park Campground Description
The Campground at Finger Lakes State Park is well maintained with spacious campsites. The campground offers basic and electric sites, both 30 and 50 amp. Mature trees provide significant shade at most campsites, each with a picnic table and fire pit. The shower house is well maintained, clean and well stocked. During our many visits we have found the showers to have good water pressure and run hot. A modern play ground is located close the fill and dump station in the middle of the campground, close to the Shower house. Firewood is available for purchase located by the check in station when entering the park.
Things To Do at Finger Lakes State Park
Finger Lakes State Park is located on the land of an old coal mining location. The recreation area consists of over 1,000 acres of land and small lakes throughout. Finger Lakes is one of only two state parks in Missouri that allows and encourages off road vehicles. Many trails cut through the forests for ATV use and mountain biking. Additionally, Finger Lakes is a popular destination for those interested in kayaking the winding lake channels. Kayaks and canoe rentals are available at the park office. Fishing, hiking and swimming at the Finger Lakes State Park beach are also a favorite recreation for those visiting. The Finger Lakes State Park Motocross Track is located within the State Park, check out their website for more information on when to come out to view the riders in action. A biking obstacle course that has both wooden and concrete tracks is located alongside a shaded picnic area and restrooms.
With so many recreation opportunities within the park, there is little reason to leave while camping to find something to do. However, if you are interested in exploring the surrounding area, the city of Columbia MO is located close by. Here you will find the campus of Missouri University as well as shopping, restaurants, movie theaters, grocery and specialty stores, hospitals, lodging, gas stations and more. Check out Rock Bridge Memorial State Park located only about 20 minutes drive from Finger Lakes State Park. Here you can hike, bike and explore caves, sink holes, water falls, springs and more. The Devil’s Icebox is a popular destination when exploring the park.

Camping at Finger Lakes State Park is one of our family favorites each year. Our kids love riding the trails and the obstacle course. The Motorcross Track is a lot of fun to watch when in action and there’s just so much to do at Finger Lakes. Kayaking, hiking, fishing and swimming. I wouldn’t say the Finger Lakes beach and lake water are the best we have been to in MO for swimming in but with so many other things to do it’s not the reason why we come each time. We always stay in the same spot, campsite 10. It fits our 5th wheel well without having to level or worry about side limitations. The campsite is very spacious and well shaded at all times of the day by the mature trees. Often our family who camps with us stay in their travel trailer at campsite 7 and are happy with it as well. A short trail behind the campsites connect the two sites, which is fun for the kids to ride bikes and run back and forth without having to go to the road. With so much to do at Finger Lakes, you are sure to have a great trip every time!
